ALKALINITY AND YOUR HEALTH

Achieving optimal health begins with maintaining an ideal balance of acidity and alkalinity in your body. Research has shown that a slightly more alkaline body is vital for good health and is associated with higher energy levels, better digestion, a healthy weight balance, increased mental clarity, fewer aches and pains, and better overall health.

In contrast, an overly acidic environment allows unhealthy bacteria to thrive and has been linked to a multitude of health problems, including cardiovascular damage, chronic fatigue, weight gain, joint pain, immune deficiency, premature aging, and more. High acid levels are often the result of a Western diet high in acid-producing sugar, processed snacks, meats, and dairy products while low in alkaline-producing foods such as fresh green vegetables, citrus fruits and nuts.

ARE THERE OTHER ADVANTAGES OF ALKALINITY?

In addition to the physical health benefits of a more alkaline body, there are emotional and psychological benefits as well. People who achieve their ideal pH balance have been shown to experience a sense of emotional balance and to feel joy and serenity more often. A more acidic environment, however, has been linked to a higher occurrence of anger, stress, fatigue and fear.

WHAT IS PH?

pH (or potential hydrogen) is how your body’s acidity and alkalinity are measured. A reading of 7.0 to 7.4 is optimal balance, with less than 7 indicating an acidic environment and greater than 7 an alkaline environment. A slightly higher alkaline level in the body has been linked to better overall health.

WHY SHOULD I BE CONCERNED WITH RESTORING PH BALANCE?

This is a very important fact that most people seem to overlook: Only when your pH is balanced is your body able to effectively absorb and utilize important vitamins, minerals and nutrients from your diet and supplements. Think about a plant, it must be in a specific pH zone in order to absorb all the nutrients being fed to it. If it is not in the correct pH zone, it will start turning yellow, be droopy, have leaves curling up etc. Our bodies are not much different.

A FEW WAYS TO ALKALIZE YOUR BODY ARE:

  • Ingesting high quality wheatgrass juice on a daily basis.

  • Cutting out / minimizing soda and alcohol while drinking more water.
